Glad things turned out that way! But wait, someone else was in the pit with Kilani…?
Kinnnnnda…
It is kinda dark and shadowy down there….
Looks like Shie and Riah might’ve figured out those cloaks! But it’s not necessary, cuz Kiriad’s used some good old fashioned logic and reasoning, to Scydes dismay. Maybe next time, Scyde!
See? Tigers can think things out. ^__^
Scyde, you need to get the blood out of your eyes…
But it’s how she keeps her youthful appearance!
So, someone from the Conclave (or perhaps someone still in possession of their cloak and access to a certain Hub) was ready to spirit Kilani away from her potential end.
Kilani came prepared!
Scyed might want to adjust her strategies, they aren’t in line with the current leadership. Any up and coming tigers or current rivals could be in for a promotion if they can produce the results the princess wants to focus on.
Then again Scyed might just try and take over but I doubt that would go over well, fighting other tigers and the dragons at the same time.
Scyde knows her place. Doesn’t mean she likes it.
I’m not sure how to feel about this… one of Kilani’s ongoing traits has been a near-suicidal need for penance through SOMEONE killing her, to either atone or give someone else the satisfaction of it. She gave herself up to the dragons, begged Queen Oscura to kill her, stood between two heavily armed sides. Her seemingly defeated guilty plea a few pages prior was in line with that. All of that made sense… until this page. The whispered dialogue here heavily implies that Kilani was about to try and fake her death by having cloaked accomplice(s) spirit her away as the pit fills over top of her. That… doesnt seem to match her presented mindset at all, and leaves me a bit mystified.
On the one hand I want to be happy for her – if this is real and permanent. If it means she has ACTUALLY found something worth living for, and won’t seek someone killing her anymore, then that’s a great change. Did her ‘positive’ conversation with Queen Oscura, saving Xhianil and getting Kess to truce with her, stopping the battle that would have claimed hundreds of tiger and dragon lives, or being officially pardoned by Princess Kiriad FINALLY balance the scales in her mind so she can let herself go on living? Or is she going to go RIGHT back to begging to be martyred again after this? A good tragic character is one thing, but /seriously/ PLEASE let this character growth STICK!
After hitting rock bottom and then having things start to go your way, it can change one’s outlook. ^__^
Royal Reprieve.
Kilani’s dirty death has been dismissed by the respectable regent. But Scyde tries to turn the tables on the trial by touting the Treason charge for Kilani’s cooperation with the Dragon’s motherly monarch. Kiriad reasons with the stubborn tigress about the trail of terror her matriarch made prior to her. She says that while her mother wanted the elimination of all Dragons despite their creed, Kiriad wishes for the wellness of her widespread tribe. The daughter is not like her mother and Kiriad wants Scyde to know that. Scyde lets the matter slip, and she steps aside. With that Kilani is absolved of any aberrations and will be free in a few minutes.
But while the conversation continued above, down below a shadow speaks with the pitiful prisoner. Who is it and what do they have in store?
It’d be nice to know who Kilani’s shushing down there. Will we find out? Stay tuned…
I am worried about scyde I be cautious around her now .
It looks like her biggest vulnerability is her ego.
I really like purple haired white Tiger kitty.
Which one? The one in orange advocating for Tiger survival, or the one in purple covered in blood?
Is “Yes” an appropriate answer?
